Central West Justice Center (CWJC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Community Legal Aid (CLA), seeks an immigration attorney to join a dynamic civil legal aid organization serving low-income and elderly people in Central and Western Massachusetts. CWJC and CLA combined have over 100 dedicated, talented staff working across multiple offices, and a budget of $11 million. Our core work includes effective client centered advocacy and robust outreach to and partnerships with our client communities.

The immigration staff attorney will join a vibrant, talented team that provides legal assistance in a range of humanitarian-based immigration law matters, including but not limited to removal, VAWA petitions, U and T visas, SIJS petitions and asylum cases.The attorney will be based in CWJC's Springfield Massachusetts office and will assist clients who live throughout western Massachusetts. In addition to handling cases for individual clients, the attorney will engage in community outreach, including know-your-rights trainings, and will assist in the preparation of periodic grant reports.

Third-year law students with a demonstrated interest in immigration law are encouraged to apply, as are more experienced attorneys with immigration law experience. Third-year law students would be expected to start after sitting for the July bar exam. 

 QUALIFICATIONS:  Admission to Massachusetts Bar, or eligible to sit for next Massachusetts Bar examination, or entitled to practice under a Massachusetts practice rule. Fluency or advanced proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred. Prior experience in immigration law is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a collaborative setting are important.
